The short answer is yes.
Almost all industries and our economy have been affected by Covid19, and Australia has been taking strong measures to keep the virus under control. As our country is in lockdown and non-essential travel, activity, and businesses are restricted or banned, the real estate industry like many others, are learning to adapt.
What we have observed is that dedicated home buyers and sellers are continuing to stay in the market. Whether this has been encouraged by the government’s attempt to stimulate the economy (e.g. record-low 0.25% cash rate, first home loan deposit scheme), or there’s a strong personal goal, it’s business as usual (almost!).
How can I sell my home with the lockdown restrictions?
This new period of change has helped us to lean on technology as well as mix in some “back-to-basics’ strategies, we can now offer
- Virtual home tours
- Private inspections
- Online auctions
- Private treaty sales
What will happen to the real estate market?
No-one can say for sure.
We’re keeping an optimistic outlook on this situation, we still have strong opportunities in the digital world which allows businesses to adjust their operations to go online.
How do I reach my prospects with the current restrictions?
We would strongly advise using a real estate agent or buyers’ agent if you decide to continue to buy or sell at this time. Your agent will have all the necessary resources to market your property. For buyers, the agent will have access to real-time listings and create a shortlist for you.
Plus, your agent should have the facilities to conduct online inspections as well as auctions. Agents follow strict guidelines and are continuing to adapt and adopt innovative ways to ensure a smooth buying/selling experience.
If I just bought or sold my property, how will I move during lockdown?
Transport & logistics including removalist services are considered as essential service so you will be able to pack and move your belongings as you normally would.
The removalist will privately manage social distancing measures such as no-contact especially between the removalists and yourself.
I need to hire tradies for renovations and repairs – is this allowed?
Currently, hiring tradies is not restricted. As hygiene and social distancing measures are privately measured, be sure to monitor this carefully to ensure your safety.
We understand that this is a very challenging time. For both our clients and prospective buyers, we are ensuring swift communication whilst setting your health and safety as a priority.
We’re continuing to make successful sales for our sellers and connecting buyers with the right properties to meet their needs.
Give us a call to discuss how we can also create this success for you! We are more than happy to tell you how we are taking safety measures during this time and the strategies we are using to ensure a smooth process.
