Celebrating New Year’s Eve in the St George area is truly special. You get the magnificent views of the fireworks at locations that are family friendly. Darling Harbour is great too but it can get very hectic very quickly, especially with your children.
Here’s how you can celebrate New Year’s Eve locally in the St George Area:
Botany Bay Fireworks
Starts at 9pm – not 12am! For families worrying if the kids can stay awake, this is for you!
The beachfront vantage points are:
- Lady Robinsons Beach
- Dolls Point
Be sure to head down a little early to get a good spot to watch the fireworks.
The locals love to have a picnic or grab some take away fish and chips near the beach. There are public BBQs and bins available!
Dinner with the Fireworks views
Book a table at Omeros on the Beach and get an amazing view of the Botany Bay Fireworks in comfort.
Location: 2 Cook Park, The Grand Parade, Ramsgate Beach
Miranda Shopping Centre.
Watch the fireworks with a night of food and family entertainment! Book a table at one of their restaurants or grab some take away.
Location: Rooftop, Miranda Westfield, 600 Kingsway, Miranda
Time: 4pm – 9.30pm
They’ll have free live shows for family entertainment which will run continuously from 4pm until the fireworks at 9pm! It includes Dora the Explora, Paw Patrol and the Smurfs to name a few.
Other events in Miranda Westfield are face painting, live music and Meet & Greet with Elmo and Cookie Monster.
Note that traffic and parking will be a challenge, especially with the road closures on the Grand Parade and surrounding streets, Bright Le Sands. The local Bayside Council recommends using public transport.
Let’s protect our beach – please take your rubbish with you! Bring a picnic basket, and please bring plastic cups and containers as glass is not permitted in these areas.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years! Cheers!
