With Spring teasing us and breaking through the cold over the last few weeks, we are starting to see more properties entering the market. With more competition, how do you gain popularity to your home when selling?
My answer to that is, update your look to be on trend! It doesn’t have to be a complete overhaul – I’ve compiled a few ideas to help inspire you.
Spring 2018 is taking us back to our roots and keeping things homey. Interiors are becoming more rustic and developers are embracing the architectural heritage of Australia. Instead of copy-paste type layouts, people are bringing in more unique characteristics to their space and mixing the old and the new.
We see that both homes and offices are sharing this trend. One of the key reasons is that it’s low cost. Sometimes all you need is a fresh coat of paint, a few tweaks here and there and the space is truly unique.
Keep note that taking the time to decorate your home and keeping on trend with the season has a huge impact when selling your property. Buyers will feel more welcome and comfortable when the atmosphere feels cosy. You’ll also increase your chances if your property is memorable.
White paint can virtually go on anything. We are seeing a big trend in all-white-everything with pops of colours and textiles here and there to give it personality. White paint over old brick walls, ceilings and antique furniture is a great canvas to later add your touch to it.
Antique Gold Bar Cart
Picture Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie The Great Gatsby. Fancy.
Instead of storing and displaying your bar collection in a traditional cupboard, try a Antique Gold or Brass bar cart. You can keep it simple or you can add decorations such as flowers and plants for spring.
Unconventional Wall Art and Decoration
Long gone are the days of having one picture frame on the wall. Break the rules – we are seeing different themes, textiles, colours, sizes and items you wouldn’t normally see on walls, all on one wall! Some call this a feature wall, and you can really put anything you want. Think of one big wall as your creative blank canvas.
Plants are always a nice way to bring a dull space to life (literally!). There’s such a big variety of plants you can choose from little ferns, succulents, vines to even trees. If you’re afraid of murdering a poor plant, don’t worry you’re not the only one!
In fact, here are some plants that are hard to kill and low maintenance:
- Snake Plant
- Peace Lily
- Jade Plant
Metallic Homeware and Furniture
Gold, brass, and rose gold is taking over! Whether it’s cutlery or lamp stands, people are loving the pops of warm metallic here and there. You can keep things small and subtle, or you can have larger stand-out pieces. We are even seeing gold taps!
Spring is always an exciting and fruitful time or both buyers and sellers. Be sure that your property stands out from the rest by keeping trendy whilst showing the unique characteristics of your home.
I hope that this will be helpful in your interior design and attracting buyers! Feel free to contact me, always happy to catch up over coffee to go discuss how to best sell your property.
