St George has a lot to offer when it comes to having a balanced lifestyle. We’ve got great beaches, parks, restaurants and a big diverse community. And speaking of lifestyle, there is a strong fitness and health culture.
Starting a fitness routine is definitely challenging and unfortunately there’s no shortcut to chiselled abs. But if you keep it fun and engaging, you’ll be feeling more encouraged and committed to your fitness goals.
The Loft Pilates & Barre
Location: Shop 1, 239 Rocky Point Road, Ramsgate, NSW 2217
There’s no better way to put it than how they did, “We believe that everyone deserves to live in a healthy, mobile, strong and aligned happy body”. They cater to all levels of fitness so don’t be afraid!
Aerobic Dancing Fitness for Women
Offered in 6 different location so choosing one close to you won’t be difficult! Lucky for you, neon-coloured leotards are not compulsory. Did you know that Aerobic exercise is good for your heart and lungs?
Location: Olds Park Forest Rd, Penshurst, NSW, 2222
If you like teamwork, you can join their Group Fitness program or grab your colleagues and start a Corporate Fitness program. Otherwise they also offer Personal Training and children’s School/Vacation Care Programs. They’ll also be happy to share their wisdom on nutrition and general well-being.
Revolute Movement Academy
Location: 18 Bermill St, Rockdale, NSW, 2216
Bored of lifting weights just up and down? Try movement practices. For example, CrossFit, MMA, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Yoga, the list goes on! It doesn’t matter if you are going in for rehab or athlete development, they are truly inclusive.
Taking care of your fitness doesn’t have to be expensive, in-fact it doesn’t have to cost anything at all! If your dating profile says, ‘I like long walks on the beach’, or if you actually mean it, be sure to try some of these walks!
Location: Cronulla NSW 2230
Cardio with a view. Enjoy the soft sand as you walk/jog/skip/hop down the beach with the scent of the salty ocean. Or, if you’re looking for a more intense experience, try the Cronulla Esplanade Trail. Warning! Steep hills ahead!
Location: Peakhurst, NSW, 2210
Go alone or with friends and family. Gannons Park has plenty of space for some Oztag, cricket, golf, jog or simply playing fetch with your dog.
Cook Park Trail
Location: The Grand Parade, Ramsgate Beach, NSW, 2217
If you’re looking for a long (and less intense) walk with a view, try the Cook Park Trail. It spans 13km and has 6 spots to take a break and maybe even go for a swim. It’s easy enough for your family to join, and bring the dog too!
Heart Foundation Walking
Location: Salt Pan Wetlands, 151 Belmore Rd, Riverwood, NSW, 2010
You’ll feel good knowing that each step you take is for a good cause. People of all ages and background take part in this walk – the perfect place to meet new people. It’s a simple 45-60 minute slow paced walk on Tuesdays/Thursdays.
I can go on but that’s my recommendation for the St George area! Whether you’re after a focused program or you want to keep it at your own pace (for free), you’ll be sure to find something suitable for you. If St George’s lifestyle culture is appealing and you’re interested in moving in give me a call! Let’s grab a coffee looking over the ocean view.
